Within the regional project BRAIN MAP by Goethe-Institute. Almaty, Astana (KAZ)
A workshop devoted to the analysis of European printed publications related to art, their graphic design, and art criticism. The discussion was based on art publications as the form of the information environment, artistic expression, escapism, and activism. The participants of the master class had the opportunity to get acquainted with several outstanding journals as indie- projects and learn about the process of their production. In addition, a selection of German and international art magazines was presented - from rough, raw, low-budget, and self-made b/w fanzine to glossy, mass-market oriented publications. The purpose of the master class was to inform local specialists about the production process of thematic publications on art in Germany - from the emergence of ideas and concept development to the search for format and implementation, as well as to discuss the possibility of creating an art magazine in Central Asia.
Master class held with the participation of Berlin-based art critic and curator Thibaut de Ruyter and german designer Peter Hübert.
